Description

In all honesty, we too have asked ourselves how we can best describe and characterize this farmhouse villa. In architecture, we are confronted with a rare contradiction in terms. An unlikely contradiction. On the street side a beautifully designed and perfectly finished Brabant long facade farm. Once on the other side - the back of this farm - you'll be touched by the modern lines of a contemporary and luxurious villa.

This opposite character makes this recently built house more than special. A line play with feeling that will never get boring. In a literal sense, design best of both worlds is brought together here. With respect for the protected villagescape. Something that goes beyond the architecture of the house, because also in terms of location, this house is uniquely situated. Although in the countryside, adjacent to one of the smaller and most picturesque village centers of Nuenen, the center of Eindhoven is only ten minutes away by car while schools and shops for daily shopping are within cycling distance. The good news for horse lovers is that there are two stables within walking distance and in the vicinity there is more than enough space to stall horses.

The view is breathtaking in all respects. From an architectural point of view, the house has been designed and designed in such a way that from every room at the rear of the house, you have a view of the obtuse tower of Nederwetten. A remnant of the 12th-century monastery church that was demolished in 1898.

Nederwetten is an official part of the municipality of Nuenen. With about 850 inhabitants, this church village is hidden in the beautiful and fertile valley of Dommel. A beautiful nature reserve in which fields, meadows and forests with high poplars are iconic. An area that merges seamlessly with the immense backyard of this house on Soeterbeekseweg. A vastness that makes the view alone an incredible 'wow' factor.

According to good old Brabant custom, we go in 'around the back'. In this case, from the side, where the back door is located. Once inside, the contrast is such that it seems as if you've gone years forward in time. Where the windows still retain the nostalgic feeling of the outside, you are welcomed inside and embraced by a sleek and modern interior design. Through a beautiful pivot door you gain access to the hallway - to which the cloakroom and pantry are adjacent - that leads you to the heart of the house. Walking through this corridor you'll see the kitchen slowly getting more and more shaped.

Once in the kitchen, it's as if the world enters you in all its intensity. What you see in a 360 degree view cannot be described with a pen. You're really short of eyes. The kitchen turns out to be a gigantic living kitchen with a back door that extends into the roof of the mezzanine and can be fully opened. A colossal but extremely beautiful window that connects the inside with the outside in a spectacular way. Something that is also characteristic of the 'other face' - the villa side - of this house, because from all rooms you look out over the huge swimming pond, the jetties and the garden that stretches endlessly before your eyes.
The fact that this house is so well thought out is no coincidence. From 2014 a start has been made with the design of this house. Something that took a lot of time, because the starting point was that not only the interplay of lines, the location and layout of the house as well as the garden had to be in perfect harmony with each other, but also with the environment. For a whole year there was intensive cooperation with the renowned architectural firm Drijvers from Oisterwijk. A specialist when it comes to restoring or building farms, Flemish barns, mills and houses. But also an office where modern and traditional architecture go hand in hand. And you can see that. On both the front and the back. In every detail, with a sense of history, the environment, as well as the landscape.

The completely newly developed and built villa farm was finally completed in October 2017.
