Real estate wasn't my first career, but it is the one I've enjoyed the longest and loved the most. I find it so fulfilling to meet people at this big transition time in their lives, really listen to them, and then help them find the solution that best fits their needs. This could mean buying a first home, upsizing, downsizing or realizing that the best move is not to move at all.
I get to be a teacher, an advocate, a negotiator and just somebody on your side. Because I believe in the importance of providing all these things, I do not "double end" real estate transactions. Many, if not most, agents do. Some even include it as part of their business plan. I don't think many buyers and sellers realize what this means for them. If the same agent represents the buyer and the seller in a transaction, that agent cannot advocate for either party. No negotiating. No advising. Nobody on your side. Just delivering documents and asking clients to make their own decisions doesn't seem like value to me. One thing most people do understand is that selling real estate is expensive. If you are going to pay for this service, I believe you deserve to have a skilled agent who is committed to only you and to helping you make the best decisions to arrive at your desired outcome.
