Susan Siegel has dedicated her life to starting up and scaling up businesses and ventures that make a difference both here in Brooklyn and around the world. Her strength is in working collaboratively with others to turn vision into reality. After graduating NYU, she founded an artisan center for the physically handicapped in Ivory Coast, West Africa. Upon returning, she founded Global Action Project, a non-profit media arts organization, which was honored at the White House with the prestigious National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award.Since moving to Ditmas Park 20 years ago, Siegel has been the spark that initiated the local farmers market, founded a community garden, and as the Co-President of the Cortelyou Road Merchants Association, is working on projects that promote a clean, safe and successful commercial corridor.Susan's passionate commitment to her community led to her tenure as Executive Director of Flatbush Development Corporation, where she engaged neighborhood residents, community groups, the community board and elected officials in economic development, housing, youth services and immigrant right initiatives. Siegel has also worked as a strategy consultant, conflict resolution and leadership facilitator.To fill a much-needed niche in her neighborhood, Susan founded and owned the Brooklyn ARTery gift shop, which has become a magnet for long-term, new and aspiring residents, who regularly seek out her extensive knowledge about the area's diverse offerings.Susan was recently honored as a 2019 Power Woman, honoring influential women whose major achievements have helped make a difference in BrooklynSusan has been a Brooklynite since 1994, first as a renter in Park Slope, and then a proud owner of a Victorian home in Ditmas Park. She joined Avenue Sothebys International Realty because she is especially interested in working with homebuyers and sellers, to help them feel comfortable and supported during this most exciting yet daunting chapter of their lives.In her spare time, Susan works as a ceramicist in her Brooklyn Studio. She enjoys art, travel, food and wine, and spending quality time with friends and family.
