Gerry Smith

Briggs Freeman Sotheby's Intl. Realty

Gerry Smith has managed diverse businesses that demand strategic insight, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer service. His career has focused on advertising, consumer marketing, publishing, and operations management. Among the noteworthy positions Smith has held are Publisher of Newsweek magazine, Managing Director of Ogilvy & Mather / Los Angeles, a top-five West Coast advertising agency, Executive Director of WTA, the principal organizing body of women's professional tennis, and CEO of Media Recovery, a DFW technology company focused on safeguarding client assets. As an executive and management consultant, Smith consistently delivered greater shareholder value for SMB companies; negotiated multimillion-dollar contracts; managed public perception of major brands; and communicated with high-profile audiences and the media worldwide. Gerry's core belief is that all businesses are built on relationships; and relationships are built on integrity. Perhaps no business relies on relationships and integrity more than residential real estate. He now brings his skills, contacts, and experience to the luxury residential real estate market and joins his wife, Patty Lynch Smith, a 2020 D Magazine Best Realtor, at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. Smith graduated from Seton Hall University, attended Suffolk Law School, and served as an officer in the United States Air Force. For his service, Smith was awarded a Bronze Star and USAF Commendation Medal for Outstanding Achievement. Gerry and Patty have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren. Over the past twenty-five years, the Smiths have lived in Highland Park, University Park, Uptown, Bluffview, and Preston Hollow.
