While Brian currently calls Santa Cruz home, he has lived on the Monterey Bay throughout his life and grew up in what John Steinbeck famously named the “Pastures of Heaven.” An early decision to dedicate himself to becoming a top-level tennis player was the base for the beginning of his career, as he learned how to balance a drive to compete at the highest level with a desire to get the most out of his education. Maintaining this balance has led Brian to become very task oriented in his approach towards achieving his goals. A degree in Environmental Studies and Economics from UC Santa Cruz provides him an education composed of both the rigid business side of economics spliced with the out of the box problem solving of environmental science. While attending UCSC, his dedication to tennis was rewarded with two National Championships, and multiple All-Americans, which led him to pursue a career in tennis for about 5 years after graduating. More importantly, it was during college that Brian developed a passion for learning, and an appreciation for a more rewarding aspect of education, which is being able to share that accumulated knowledge. This discovery then led him into coaching, and it is here when he began to realize the skills that competitive tennis had helped him attain; communication, the most important of all, but also honesty, organization, patience, and persistence, which are all cornerstones of a successful life. Brian started his real estate career as an understudy to Jim Somerville while working at Coldwell Banker before they both made the move to Monterey Coast Realty and formed Somerville Group. A constant desire to learn has made him a quick study of the real estate industry and a vital resource for market and industry information. This knowledge base combined with refined technological skills provide him with the ability to build and carry out, an intelligent and comprehensive marketing plan to get any property the attention it deserves. A hand in over $20,000,000 in sales over the past 2 years as part of Somerville Group shows Brian is well on his way to becoming an established representative of the real estate community on the Monterey Bay.
