Intero Real Estate Services Creates a Culture of Giving Back

CUPERTINO, CA - The Intero Foundation (www.interofoundation.org), a non-profit organization benefiting children in need, established in 2002 by the founders of Intero Real Estate Services, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and wholly owned subsidiary of HomeServices of America, Inc., announced that it has donated over $300,000 to over 35 charities in 2015. This is part of the company’s mission to positively impact the growth and well-being of children in the communities they work and live in. Empowered by Intero agents and employees, the Foundation raised over $500,000 in 2015, bringing the total money raised since inception to over $4 million. This year, contributions were able to raise the Foundation’s endowment to over $1 million, a monumental accomplishment.
John Thompson, Intero’s Chief Operating Officer explains, “Agents donate a portion of their earnings from every home that is sold. As a company, this commitment makes a big statement. Therefore, when you drive by an Intero for sale sign or work with an Intero Realtor, you can feel good that at risk children in the community will be served and we thank each and every one of you for your support.”
In addition to the agents’ contributions, in 2015, Intero hosted a variety of fundraising events including an e-waste recycling event, their fourth annual Intero Day at the Giants, Hot Wheels for Kids, a car show benefiting the foundation, several Saratoga Eats events, a mobile food truck adventure, and Intero’s biggest fundraising events, Silicon Valley Gives and Giving Tuesday. Both are large annual online giving events that involved nonprofit organizations around the Silicon Valley and the world, respectively. All money donated at these events goes directly to organizations that support youth.
“Intero has always been passionate about making a difference in the communities we serve and since the beginning, we have done this through The Intero Foundation.” says Tom Tognoli, President and CEO of Intero Real Estate Services, Inc.
"We are really pleased with the performance of the Intero Foundation in 2015. Our individual agents collectively contributed over a half million dollars last year. This was a nearly 15% increase over our 2014 numbers. Our agents are so generous!” Foundation President Lana Morin Pierce said of this year’s accomplishments. “And our endowment reached $1,000,000 in 2015, as well. And the best part is that we touched so many children’s’ lives here in our communities through the numerous grants we gave out. I’m excited for what is to come, as 2016 unfolds!"
