LOS ANGELES, CA - Gibson International Real Estate is hosting a canned food drive benefitting the Westside Food Bank throughout the month of November. Donations of canned goods and non-perishable items will be collected at Gibson International office locations as well as November open houses. All proceeds go directly to the community through the Westside Food Bank in Santa Monica. Donations may also be dropped off at the Westside Food Bank on behalf of the Gibson International Charitable Foundation.
The company will be promoting the event in advertising throughout November to get the word out and increase participation. Gibson International real estate agents will provide shopping bags at their open houses for visitors to easily identify where to leave their offerings. Current and past clients are welcome to contribute by giving goods to their agents. Alternatively, participants can leave items at their local Gibson International office in Brentwood, Marina del Rey, or Pacific Palisades.
Executive Vice President Pat Heller proposed the initiative for a worthy cause: “We try to stay active in charitable events all year long, but we’re especially mindful of community needs during the holiday season. Each year during the holidays we like to have a pay it forward program or an event to give back. We know that food drives can be so meaningful this time of year, and that as a real estate company, we’re in a uniquely public facing position. So this year we decided to get involved with the Westside Food Bank in a way that our agents and the entire community can participate. We’re using our open houses as an easy way for people to join in the effort and give to those less fortunate. We’re very excited about the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives this Thanksgiving.”
The Westside Food Bank is a non-profit organization that assists other local charities in Los Angeles County. The food donations collected at the Santa Monica location are distributed to a group of 70 social service agencies around Southern California, which enables partner organizations to expend resources in other areas.
