Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, killing more women than all forms of cancer combined. That is why the Go Red For Women Summit is taking action to help educate Austinites on the importance of their heart health.
The Capital Area Division of the American Heart Association has a very active Go Red For Women campaign, and there are many ways that people can become involved to help others to prevent heart disease.
“Being a heart attack survivor, I feel called to pass on to other women that heart disease can happen to anyone,” says Desmond Milvenan, VP & realtor of Turnquist Partners. “It is important to know the signs and symptoms because often the first symptom of heart disease is death. That is why I am so involved in the Circle of Red and believe this summit is a key to helping get awareness out there.”
The Austin Go Red For Women Summit is being held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the AT&T Conference Center in downtown Austin. Starting from 9:00 in the morning, there will be sessions helping women understand the nature of this disease and how they can be aware of the symptoms and even help prevent it, followed by a keynote with Star Jones.
