Zephyr Real Estate Sponsors Annual Food and Toy Drive

1385409667SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Zephyr Real Estate is once again collecting donations for the annual Food and Toy drive to benefit those in need during the holiday season. As in the past, the San Francisco Firefighters’ Toy Program and the San Francisco Food Bank are the recipients of the donations from all six Zephyr offices in San Francisco. Donations should be made by December 18th, at which time the barrels will be collected and delivered to the respective organizations.

Donations may be made at any of the six Zephyr office locations in San Francisco: 2500 Market Street, 4040 24th Street, 2523 California Street, 1542 20th Street, 4200 17th Street, and 215 West Portal Avenue.

Each year, the SF Firefighters Toy Program distributes approximately 40,000 toys during the holidays to more than 25,000 children. Dependent solely upon donations, this program is the City’s largest of its kind, as well as the nation’s oldest, and has been actively brightening the holidays for disadvantaged children since 1949. Their work is not only around the holidays, but throughout the year for displaced children who become victims of fires, floods and other disasters. Toys should be new and unwrapped.

The San Francisco Food Bank anticipates distributing food to more than 225,000 people during the holidays. The Food Bank supplies food to over 450 local non-profit organizations that serve thousands of families, seniors, children and individuals. More than 25,000 volunteers make this program work to get the most value from each donation and to get the food where it is needed most. This year, over 45 million pounds of food will be served. Food items should be non-perishable. Most-needed foods are tuna and canned meats, cereal, peanut butter, beans, rice, pasta, soups and stews, 100 percent fruit juices, and canned fruits and vegetables. Cash donations are always welcome. The Food Bank’s buying power can purchase approximately $6 in food for every $1 donation.
