Harry Norman, Realtors(R) Names John R. Barnes Senior Vice President and Managing Broker for Buckhead Powers Ferry Office

ATLANTA – (June 5, 2009) – Harry Norman, Realtors® today announced the addition of John R. Barnes as senior vice president and managing broker of its Buckhead Powers Ferry office. In his new role, Barnes is responsible for overseeing the office’s daily operations, marketing initiatives, advising sales associates and building an outstanding team of agents.

A respected real estate broker licensed throughout the Southeast, Barnes has been responsible for the sale of hundreds of millions of dollars in real estate and for marketing numerous new home communities. He began his career in 1973 as a sales associate with Harry Norman, Realtors.

Most recently, Barnes served as managing broker of Watson Realty in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Previously, he worked with The Halter Companies, which partnered with Trammell Crow Residential to develop numerous high-end multi-family communities throughout the Southeast. Barnes was managing broker and director of sales for Cape Harbour, a luxurious yachting community in Cape Coral, Fla. Under his leadership, $15 million of home sites were closed in 13 months, exceeding sales projections by 300 percent..

Barnes has worked with a number of top Atlanta residential real estate firms over the years including Jenny Pruitt & Associates, Realtors, where his office ranked among the top offices in metro Atlanta.

In 1988 Barnes joined Buckhead Brokers Realtors to manage its Cobb regional office which became one of the top 10 real estate offices in Atlanta. He was responsible for growing the office to more than 90 associates with sales in excess of a million dollars daily.

In 1980 Barnes served as managing broker for Coldwell Banker’s Marietta sales office. Under his leadership, the office moved from 27th to 5th in the company rankings in two years. Barnes subsequently served as senior vice president and regional manager of the company’s Atlanta operations, where he managed 25 branch offices and more than 1,500 sales associates. He was selected to join the company’s prestigious national training division.

Barnes has received many industry honors and has the distinction of receiving the Atlanta Board of Realtors President’s Award for two consecutive years.
