EVERGREEN PARK, IL USA – Laura Freeman, managing broker of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago is pleased to announce that the Evergreen Park office will collect donations for the Finley Forever Foundation during the firm’s annual Community Kindness initiative. The Finley Forever Foundation provides hope, support and financial assistance to families and children affected by cancer. Through July 29th, the office at 3580 W. 95th Street will accept donations to help make a child’s hospital stay a little more comfortable as well as provide support to their families. On July 29th, the office will have a special drop off day where they accept items at the office from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The Finley Forever Foundation works with the oncology department at Lurie Children’s Hospital and offers a number of activities and events. They provide cooler bags of goodies including gift cards for the kids and parents, hold toy drives, donate small pop-up play tents so that younger patients can have a space of their own and provide coffee for the staff break room on the inpatient oncology floor. They founded the "Lights & Ladders Brigade", combined with other foundations, where volunteers decorate the homes of families battling cancer or other illnesses at Christmas time.
The most requested items include: laundry items (Pods only and Free & Gentle fabric sheets), TV Fire Sticks, new twin bed sheets, new blankets, window crayons, decorations for a child’s hospital room, new toys, coffee supplies-packets of sugar/cream, disposable coffee cups and K-cup pods for the parents and oncology staff. Gift Cards for the following: Dunkin, Starbucks, Potbelly, Panera, Subway, Walgreens, Uber and Grub Hub as well as Alsip Nursery and/or Home Depot gift cards to support the Lights and Ladders event in December. An Amazon Wish List offers more suggestions and monetary donations are accepted through the Finley Forever Foundation website. Due to the children’s compromised immune systems all items need to be new.
