EVANSTON, IL – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago in Evanston provided 65 meals to St. Paul Lutheran Church’s Soup Kitchen, during the firm’s all-company Community Kindness event. The Soup Kitchen is affiliated with the Interfaith Action Council of the North Shore and the meals were prepared by Soul and Smoke, a local catering company. Meals consisted of braised chicken thighs, brown rice pilaf and green beans. Ten vegetarian meals consisted of cheese stuffed pasta and green beans.
During Community Kindness, agents and staff from the company’s 24 offices volunteer their time and talents to organizations in their respective communities. Pat Vaughan, Managing Broker of the Evanston office, said, “For the last several years our office has been making and serving Sunday meals for those in need at the Soup Kitchen. This year, because of COVID-19, we could not cook and serve as we had previously done, so agents donated approximately $465 so we could purchase meals. We then delivered the meals prepared by Soul and Smoke to the kitchen. I’d like to thank Sue Salisbury, who spearheaded the event, and everyone who donated funds or provided bottled water and dessert bars to make this delivery possible.”
