Focus On Columbine Country Club, Littleton Colorado
April 12, 2018
1955 saw the establishment of the Columbine Country Club, Littleton Colorado, a championship golf course community with around 200 homesites in the quiet enclave provided by the old 295-acre Heckendorf Farm. The 17 founding members selected this site in the South Platte River Valley just west of Old Town Littleton for its natural beauty, a winding river and open views of the Rocky Mountain Foothills. Using the Colorado State flower, Columbine Valley Country Club got its name.
As the area had been all farmland, it was nothing unusual to tee-off only to find the odd stray cow on the fairway or a deer munching in the rough! The Henry Huges designed championship course, host to the 1967 PGA Championship, is joined by a 9-hole par three course, seven tennis courts, and a family pool.
When Columbine Country Club, began to attract enough interest for the quality of lifestyle from the cities of Denver and Littleton, the question of annexation arose to increase the tax base of these cities. Overwhelmingly, residents voted against and in 1959, the Secretary of State of Colorado signed the incorporation papers of the Town of Columbine Valley.
Columbine Country Club has something for everyone in the market to enjoy in this delightful countryside living experience just a stone's throw from Littleton Main Street and the Aspen Grove Shopping Center, both where good casual dining spots can be found. Try out:
