Situated on approximately a lot and a half, this one-of-a-kind property boasts dramatic interior and exterior spaces heightened by expansive views over the City to downtown and the Bay Bridge. Many of the original 1930’s details were retained in the recent contemporary upgrade and redesign of the property. The scale of the entry is continued in the front formal GREAT ROOM, currently used as a formal DINING ROOM / LIBRARY / MUSIC ROOM, maintaining all of the original details…barrel vaulted ceiling, parquet hardwood floor, over-scale fireplace, plaster accent moldings and arched five window bay… all adding drama to the space for great entertaining.

Moving to the rear view side of the house the design takes a decidedly more contemporary yet no less dramatic or detailed attitude. The area continues the Brazilian walnut floors. The sweeping view is counter balanced with opposing walls of custom cerused oak display, AV equipment and fireplace cabinetry including a concealable 52” plasma screen over the faceted granite fireplace surround. The room is specifically designed for optimum AV performance with surround sound system and sound insulating double wall construction on the east property line wall. As most every space in this property, this room is designed as a feast for the senses; visual, tactile and in this case audible as well.

The KITCHEN is open and central to the main floor for convenience and entertaining in the contemporary lifestyle with the added convenience of a bar-b-que deck, pantry and central laundry room. It’s design was inspired by the original 1930 bath and incorporates new custom tile work including original salvaged aqua green tile combined with a rich combination of deeply hued and various patterned mosaic glass and trim tiles.
