The house is a traditional Maltese townhouse that has been hollowed out to create a kind of 'vertical' loft. The outside gives the impression of a normal city house, with Maltese balconies and a limestone facade, but inside, grilled zinc walkways let natural light flow down the 3 floors of private living space to give a sense of size and freedom which would otherwise be impossible !
The private entry is a traditional Maltese wooden door, but adapted so that it is a double width single door, so easy to get in and out with suitcases or deliveries. After a small entry corridor, a small winding staircase according to traditional Maltese 'garigor' style leads to the private elevator. The elevator leads to the different living floor: firstly two bedrooms, secondly a kitchen and dining room, thirdly a double living room, which could also be used as a study or a third bedroom. On the top floor there is a bookcase, storage space incorporating a clothes dryer and second fridge and double doors leading onto the rooftop terrace.
The bedrooms both have ensuite shower rooms, space to hang clothes, air-conditioning and radiators. Both have maple wood parquet floors ; the front bedroom has a Maltese balcony looking out over the gardens, the back bedroom has had its Maltese balcony converted into a comfortable bathroom. In addition, there is a storage space for items such as suitcases and ironing-boards in the back bedroom. The kitchen is in Maple, trimmed with silver-painted steel and with tops in stainless steel and cupboards in white-lacquered wood. It is lit with recessed spotlights. The windows give over the gardens, where a small bar has been created so that you can have breakfast or an aperitif directly in the kitchen itself and enjoy the view.
There is plenty of cupboard space, and it is fully equipped with ceramic hob, stainless steel oven, dishwasher, washing machine, double sink, etc. The internet point is also here to maximise its strength throughout the house. The dining room is on the back side of this floor, with the same poured cement lacquered floor.
On the top floor is the main living room and study area, with the best internal views in the house. The floors are in beige colored micro-cement, and there is a new modern fire place which creates a center piece for conversation in the room. The front room is conveniently divided off with a full-height glass window, so that the views from the back-room are uninterrupted… but it can be closed off with a curtain, whilst keeping a noise and wind insulation from the rest of that floor just in case extra guests come to stay and you need that third bedroom. A sofa-bed is already installed there, with cupboard space, and a full shower room too. There is a radiator and also an a/c unit at this level. The doors out to the balcony can be set to just leave air to circulate around the house when you are absent, without the risk of damaging in case of a sudden storm or gust of wind. This floor is double-height to create a feeling of airiness !
The top floor has a grilled walkway, incorporating a large bookcase and more storage space. On the terrace, there is a table which fits 8 people where one can enjoy dinner whilst enjoying the magnificent views
