Both painters were students of Antonio Balestra, the acknowledged head of the eighteenth century Veronese school of paining. The two huge canvases are the masterpieces of the painters and were certainly completed before 1752. In the hall, the painted architecture includes a series of monochrome works depicting scenes from the Iliad and the Aeneid, by Giorgio Anselmi, whose hand also painted in fresco the nine meters high ceiling of the hall depicting the 'Triumph of Juno and Athena'. In the adjacent room, the wall is decorated with tempera in trompe l' oeil from the first half of the nineteenth century. Here, the frescoed oval ceiling, also by Anselmi, depicts "Time and Vanity'. Entrati nel piano nobile il soffitto è stato affrescato e attribuito al Rotari, mentre le pavimentazioni originali in terrazzo veneziano sono ancora visibili in quasi tutte le stanze. Nel salone principale due grandi tele alle pareti raffigurano “Il sacrificio d’Ifigenia” di Pietro Rotari e “Achille trascina il corpo di Ettore” di Carlo Salis, incorniciati da architetture dipinte a quadratura. Entrambi i pittori furono allievi di Antonio Balestra. Le due enormi tele costituiscono il capolavoro per entrambi i pittori e furono sicuramente eseguite prima del 1752. Nello stesso salone, tra le architetture dipinte, compaiono una serie di affreschi monocromi con scene ispirati all’Iliade e all’Eneide di Giorgio Anselmi, la cui mano dipinse anche il soffitto del salone che sovrasta a nove metri d’altezza raffigurante in affresco il “Trionfo di Giunone ed Atena”. Il soffitto ad affresco, sempre di ANSELMI, raffigura in ovale “Il Tempo e la Vanità”.
