Description

Rapenburg 53 in Leiden

“t’ arsenael”

The Rapenburg, with its many 18th and 19th century monumental buildings, is generally considered the most beautiful canal of Leiden. This attractive canal-side house with city garden is situated halfway the Rapenburg. This special object has been completely renovated in 1995 by Foundation Diogenes that has the objective of preserving the monumental properties in Leiden. The building consists of a front and a back house which results in a considerable living surface of approx. 265 m². A small courtyard is situated between the front and the back house. The great city garden is facing west and (surprisingly!) has a back entrance and a bicycle shed.

Layout: Entrance on the ground floor, hallway, living room with original en-suite separation. Both the front and the back room are provided with a mantelpiece and oak flooring (extra wide floor elements). Through a long hallway with fixed staircase, stairs cupboard and toilet with sink, access is gained to the back room. Conservatory provided with patio doors leading to the back garden and the courtyard. Kitchen equipped with all desirable built-in equipment (e.g. dishwasher, oven, etc.) and a second access to the back garden.

First floor: Landing, bedroom and bathroom at the back of the building with bathtub, separate shower, sink and toilet.
Small level difference to the front house in which 2 large bedrooms are situated, both with fixed cabinets. The front room (facing the street) is provided with an oak floor and a mantelpiece and has a great view of the Rapenburg (currently used as office space).

Fixed staircase to the second floor with large bedroom facing the street, landing with fixed cabinets and laundry. Separate bathroom provided with double sink, shower and toilet. Second bedroom on this floor situated at the back. Loft ladder to the very spacious storage attic with standing height and setup location for the central heating installation and boiler.

The whole is in excellent maintenance condition.
