Mr. James C. Bernard is a graduate of Virginia Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a minor in Real Estate Management. He is a Bahamas Real Estate Association licensed Appraiser and Salesman. He completed his three year apprenticeship at Bahamas Realty, the leading appraisal firm in the Bahamas, under Robin B. Brownrigg. He worked in Washington D.C. with the largest real estate management company in the eastern USA for several years before returning to the Bahamas to continue his real estate career. James has experience appraising residential, commercial and industrial real estate throughout the islands of The Bahamas. James' scope of work includes market value, forced sale value, insurance value and investment value appraisals reports for every major bank, insurance company and lending institution in The Bahamas as well as for lawyers, Government and private clients. He has an extensive knowledge in appraising properties throughout all market segments from high-end commercial properties, industrial properties and multi-million dollar residential properties. His experience includes Lyford Cay and Ocean Club residential homes, Bacardi Distillery, Grand Bahama Power Plant, resorts throughout the islands of The Bahamas, office complexes, multi-family apartment complexes, entire subdivisions, shopping centres, and hospitals. James is also a licensed real estate sales agent actively participating in real estate transactions at all levels of the market.
In his spare time, James enjoys traveling throughout the Islands of The Bahamas and fishing their surrounding waters for the abundant game fish that inhabit our countries marine environment. James is and avid deep sea fisherman chasing marlin, sailfish, tuna and wahoo and participates in most of the local fishing tournaments. James and his team represented The Bahamas at the IGFA Offshore World Championships in Cabo, Mexico, in 2010 and 2011, bringing home the second place trophy both years competing against over 70 teams from over 30 different countries. He and his team qualified for the 2012 World Championship but were unable to participate due to scheduling conflicts. They were able to participate once again in the 2013 World Championship earning first place bringing home the gold medal for the Bahamas. In the warmer summer months he enjoys free-diving and spearfishing for lobster, grouper and snappers.
James' passion for the sea has driven him to be an active marine conservationist. He is a member of BREEF and The Bahamas National Trust and plays and active role in the preservation of the Bahamian waters for future generations to enjoy.
