Graduating from RMIT in 1985 my career started in the fashion industry in 1986.I worked for two large-scale design/manufacturing houses, gaining experience in mass production, cost effective design and construction in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
In 1989 I moved to La Jolla, California and diversified into design/manufacture for interiors. I moved from a mass production environment to a high end, custom environment. My career flew me all over the U.S working on interiors, thus teaching me the level of expectation required at this level.
During this time, I also designed a children's chair that sold throughout the U.S and became Mc Calls largest selling craft pattern. Amazingly it is still available today in Pottery Barn Kids and Mc Calls patterns some 16 years later. It's really incredible how far one idea can go!!
During my time in the States, it was an honour to have my work published in numerous U.S magazines and the book "Cabins and Camps".
In 2001 I moved back to Australia to the Sunshine Coast and continued with design and added selling real estate to my list of passions.I became a qualified real estate agent and co-founded Villa Prestige Properties. Coinciding with real estate, I was also hired as a design consultant for numerous projects that included, 2 shopping centres, 1000 + sqm homes, restaurants, company headquarters, government projects and numerous private homes.
The great joy in working in both industries is I get to see the market in all facets.Accessing environments from all perspectives provides the knowledge required to navigate the ever-changing economic climate. I am always "doing the numbers" to maximise potential growth and wealth in all areas of my expertise, this is the key component in forecasting what the future consumer will value and a point of difference in my methodology.
Giving back is also very important and I do this by volunteering and mentoring.
I feel I am a very fortunate and lucky person.
