Rich Aronson is a principal in Grasshopper Development, L.L.C. located in Chicago, Illinois. He is a life long Chicagoan and currently resides in the city’s dynamic East Rogers Park neighborhood.
Rich received a B.S. in Corporate Finance from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, School of Business in 1986, and received a law degree from DePaul University’s College of Law in 1990. Rich is also a non-practicing attorney as well as a licensed Real Estate Brokers in the State of Illinois.
Rich began his career practicing law for 6 years focusing primarily on administrative and governmental affairs law. He then switched career paths in 1995 to pursue his passion – real estate development – and specifically the restoration and rehabilitation of historic and semi-historic single-family residences.
Rich has personally restored and re-developed over 20 single family homes as well as more than 10 multi-unit condominium projects since 1995 and has won numerous community-based awards recognizing his passion and commitment to quality restoration and preservation. Rich also has won six (6) Chicago Association of Realtors’ Good Neighbor Awards over the years, winning three (3) in 2003 alone.
Rich has also developed more than 20 new construction projects ranging from multi-million dollar single-family residences to 7-story mid-rises, building more than 250 residential and commercial units across Chicago. Rich has also been actively engaged in the development, ownership, operation and management of mixed-use, commercial, multi-family and single-family residential properties since the 1990’s.
Rich has also been actively engaged in trying to help property owners of all types work through the complexities and ever-changing landscapes of today’s real estate marketplace. Rich has helped clients develop strategies and solutions to address their financing and operating difficulties. He also comes up with creative, often over-looked ways of adding value and cash flow to properties based on his uniquely entrepreneurial knowledge and experience.
Rich was also managing broker for Camelot Realty Chicago, Inc. located in Chicago, Illinois from 1998 to 2014. Rich managed all sales and brokerage operations, over-seeing a staff that grew from 3 to over 15 agents, and representing more than 10 developer clients and scores of individual buyers and sellers. Rich has sold over $100 million in his career. Rich is currently a top producing broker with Dreamtown, a boutique Chicago brokerage firm.
