In her previous life, Dawn Pier worked as a research scientist and did field work at military radar stations spanning the Canadian arctic where she studied the uptake of contaminants by plants. She holds a Masters degree in Science (Biology) from one of Canada’s top universities, Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario.
In 2002, Dawn decided she’d had enough of the cold, however, and moved to the tiny off-grid village of Cabo Pulmo on southern Baja’s East Cape to follow her dream to learn to surf. To her surprise she ended up founding a community organization, Amigos para la Conservacion de Cabo Pulmo, A.C. (Friends for the Conservation of Cabo Pulmo) to protect the coral reef in Cabo Pulmo National Park (CPNP) and worked as its director for several years. Thanks to her efforts and those of the local Mexican community members, in 2012, the park was declared the most successful marine park in the world, when it was demonstrated to have experienced a 463% increase in fish abundance over a nine year period starting in 2003. In 2007, due to her increasingly excellent Spanish skills, expats began to engage Dawn’s assistance in the construction of their homes. This resulted in her becoming involved in real estate sales in 2012. Her focus has traditionally been on the East Cape region where she lives, but she quickly became knowledgeable about San Jose del Cabo, where our brokerage is located, and the world-renowned development Palmilla, home of the One & Only Hotel. She carries the distinction of holding the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) designation of under the National Association of Realtors®.
Here’s what some clients had to say about her:
“Dawn kept me informed, looked out for my interests while maintaining her own integrity, and saw to it that I got more money than I anticipated. I am happy and proud to recommend her without hesitation.”
"If you are thinking about listing your home or you are in need of an agent to purchase real estate, we highly recommend Dawn Pier. She is professional and a great negotiator between the buyer and seller."

"We’ve had our sights on several residences in San Jose del Cabo of late. Eager to purchase, we had a 3-day window in which to come into town and hit the ground running; thus, we asked Dawn if she would be available on short notice to get us into the homes on our list.
Dawn did not disappoint; she filled our time remarkably well, the outcome of which was positive. We offered on one of the homes, and could not have been more pleased with Dawn’s undivided attention to our every question, concern, and general business-at-hand."
Dawn sees real estate as a form of detective work. She loves the excitement of finding her clients the perfect property to fulfill their dreams of living in the paradise that she loves. She has a vast depth of knowledge about what it’s like to live in the area and loves sharing her experience with buyers. Her enthusiasm is infectious! She also knows that buying real estate in Mexico can be intimidating, so her goal is to make that experience the smoothest, most satisfying, and least stressful real estate transaction of your life. When it comes to selling, the scientist in Dawn will examine market data and help you arrive at the best price to get your home sold for the best possible price. And whether working with buyers or sellers, she maintains a high standard of integrity and customer service. Call her today to see if she’s the right fit for your Baja real estate needs!
