The real estate professional, former broadcast journalist and five-time World Champion water skier is now the VP and Managing Broker of Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty's Truckee, Tahoe City and Squaw Valley, Calif. offices.

The 30-year New York resident is a longtime fan of the Tahoe region. She has been visiting consistently for several years and even purchased a home in Truckee in 2016. Camille Duvall She was already drawn to the natural beauty of the region, so when a position opened up with Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty, making the leap felt natural.

“I was ready for a life change,” said Duvall. “Sotheby’s International Realty is such a well-respected international brand with a powerful marketing platform and an impressive network of associates. I’m excited to work alongside this team of professionals and to play a role in launching a new suite of technology. All the pieces just fell into place.”

Duvall was most recently the director of sales at Warburg Realty, a firm that has been at the forefront of New York real estate for more than a century. There, she quickly proved her acumen in negotiating and closing major transactions. Within a year of starting in the business, she earned a “Deal of the Year” Award from the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY).

In 2015, after a decade as a top broker at Warburg, Duvall was appointed sales director for the firm’s new office in the Flatiron District. A year later, she was named one of the three new inductees to the ethics committee of REBNY and joined the executive board of New York Residential Specialists (NYRS).

“Camille brings her significant real estate sales and management experience along with an understanding as to how we translate that experience into real-world advantages for our company,” said Peter Strand, president of Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty. “I look forward to working with Camille as we continually seek to create a greater level of success and satisfaction for our sales associates, ultimately impacting all of our clients.”

Duvall says the experience of being a broker in Manhattan for 15 years has helped make her a more empathetic and understanding manager. “I’ve been in the trenches. I’ve been in their position. There’s a big difference between Manhattan and Truckee, but the basic tenants of brokerage are the same.”

One of the differences Duvall is especially excited about is the area’s abundance of outdoor recreation and the active lifestyle it affords. “In New York, at the end of the day, people say ‘let’s grab drinks.’ Here you’re more likely to hit the slopes or go for a ride. The outdoor play aspect was such a huge attraction.”

Duvall plans to take full advantage of all the area has to offer, including rock climbing, cycling and skiing. While she’s learning to alpine and Nordic ski this winter, she’s most looking forward to hitting the lake come summer.

Prior to her career in real estate, Duvall was a professional water skier, earning five World Champion titles, a No. 1 international ranking for 10 years, and an induction to the Water Ski Hall of Fame, which led to her being named one of the “100 Greatest Athletes of the Century” by Sports Illustrated.
