Orchid Island Member Donates $75 Million to John Hopkins University Philosophy Department

1517611081ORCHID, FL – Orchid Island Members have a long history of being very philanthropic and recently one member in particular has made a huge impact on John Hopkins University.  

Recently featured in The Baltimore Sun on January 16, 2018, legendarily successful stockpicker, William H. “Bill” Miller III, donated $75 million to the University’s Philosophy Department. Miller stated in the article that he realized how his study of philosophy had been key to his success and was quoted in the article as saying, “I attribute much of my business success to the analytical training and habits of mind that were developed when I was a graduate student at Johns Hopkins,” he said in a statement. “I am delighted to show my gratitude by helping to move the department to its rightful place among the best in the country.”
