1515022359NEWPORT, RI - Now in its 5th year, Project ReGive is on track to break all previous records. The program collects and donates new, unwanted or duplicate holiday gifts to local charities. This year’s recipients are the Women’s Resource Center, Lucy’s Hearth and the Newport Community School. Collections at Project ReGive bins around town will continue until January 12th, 2018.

Project ReGive is the brainchild of Middletown native, Matt Hadfield, principal broker for Hogan Associates Real Estate. Matt launched Project ReGive in 2013 with a handful of collection bins and the help of friends and real estate agents.

Thirty-three local sponsors including Bank Newport, Newport Hospital and Embrace Home Loans were happy to set out the colorful Project ReGive bins in lobbies and employee entrances.

“We received hundreds of presents from this amazing project. Words cannot express how much this is appreciated.” said Lori DiPersio, Executive Director of the Women’s Resource Center.

“One of the beautiful things about Project ReGive is no one is asked to go out and buy presents. We are simply distributing unwanted, unused gifts to those in the community that can really benefit from them. The kindness in the community is humbling" said Matt Hadfield.

So, consider dropping off those gifts that you don’t need, don’t want or just don’t like. A complete list of drop off locations is at projectregive.org.

It doesn’t cost a thing to spread a little happiness.
