DENVER, CO - LIV Sotheby’s International Realty is pleased to announce that five homes have been built for a community in need, in rural Mexico. The efforts were made possible due to the generous donations by LIV Sotheby’s International Realty brokers and staff, who donated to New Story, a 501c3 non-profit organization that announced its efforts to aid the Mexican community at the recent Sotheby’s International Realty Global Networking Event that took place in Las Vegas, in September.
“New Story is a non-profit organization supported by Sotheby’s International Realty around the world,” said LIV Sotheby’s International Realty president, Scott Webber. “Each home costs $6,000 and transforms dangerous living environments into communities of safe, sustainable homes. Recently, at the Sotheby’s International Realty Global Networking Event, brokers in attendance raised enough money to build 160 homes, in fact, an entire neighborhood in Mexico. LIV Sotheby’s International Realty was a major participant in that successful effort, and for that, I could not be prouder.”
Since 2015, New Story has been building communities in Haiti, El Salvador, Bolivia and now, in Mexico. The organization works with local partners to transform slums into safe, life-changing communities. Each home costs just $6,000 and is given to a family in need to impact their lives for generations to come.
New Story has created an innovative and more transparent model than the traditional charitable giving experience. Every dollar given to New Story goes directly to building homes. Operations are paid for by outside investors so donors know exactly where their money is going. Additionally, every donor receives a digital profile of the exact family they helped support.
“Our 100% model and move-in videos are how we’re providing a unique experience for donors,” said Brett Hagler, CEO of New Story. “We don’t want giving to just be a transaction. We strive to create an experience that truly shows donors how much their donation means to these families.”
