SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Zephyr Real Estate once again hosted a gala evening celebration as part of this year’s 40th Annual Decorator Showcase. The party was held at this year’s showcase home, The Mack House, located at 2698 Pacific Avenue, and it is truly a sight to behold.
The featured home is a Classical Revival House, built in 1904, designed by architects Samuel Newsom and his son, Sidney. The grand estate has eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms and covers 11,000 square feet and three levels of crafted Old World luxury and elegance. Located on the corner of Pacific Avenue and Scott Street, this jewel has been beautifully adorned by several renowned designers and stylists.
The home was the perfect setting for a gala celebration, which included delightful hors d’oeuvres by McCall’s, San Francisco’s leading caterer. Those attending received complimentary gift bags filled with elegant swag.
Widely considered to be the West Coast’s premier design event, it is also the major fundraiser for San Francisco University High School. In its first year, the event raised $26,000. It now raises over $500,000 annually, and has garnered over $14 million since its inception.
The Showcase began in 1977 when Nan Rosenblatt, a former San Francisco University High School parent and herself an accomplished interior designer, along with Philip Fernandez, the first president of the school’s Parents Association, conceived the idea as a fundraiser for the school’s financial aid program.
The Showcase has taken place at some of the most prestigious addresses in the most fashionable neighborhoods of San Francisco. Last year’s was at the Villa de Martini, 298 Chestnut Street on Telegraph Hill, and the year before was at 3630 Jackson Street, a Julia Morgan-designed mansion in Presidio Heights.
