Pacific Union GMAC Real Estate Goes Green in 2008

Posted by Karen Monroe — February 3, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO – (Feb. 4, 2008) – It’s good to be green. Embracing full green-ness beyond the company’s traditional hunter green look, Pacific Union GMAC Real Estate is actually going Green too. The local firm is thinking global, taking the environmentally responsible stand to transition all of its offices to meet city standards for Green certification. To assist, graduate students in the Green MBA program at Dominican University of California recently partnered with Pacific Union to move the greening process along in its Greenbrae locations.“Making the commitment to go Green as a company is no small task and is something we are serious about,” said Avram Goldman, President and CEO of Pacific Union. “As an organization, it is critical we take care of our resources and take responsibility for our energy efficiencies. At Pacific Union we are already real estate leaders, we also intend to become environmental leaders in creating sustainability for the future.”Pacific Union has offices in San Francisco, Berkeley, Montclair, Orinda, Marin, Sonoma and Napa, each geographic region holding its own set of greening guidelines. Dominican University students Matt Trocker and Pete Whitford are working closely with Pacific Union facilities manager, accounts payable and receivable manager Moorea Dickason to get the Green business certification for the Greenbrae office. As the result of this partnership, this Marin office is expected to be the first Pacific Union location to officially go Green.Getting started was simple thanks to information provided by the Bay Area Green Business Program for businesses in each area. The Bay Area Green Business Program works with government agencies and utilities to help local businesses comply with all environmental regulations, taking actions to conserve resources, prevent pollution and minimize waste. Since 1997, more than 1,000 businesses and public agencies have been certified by the Green Business Program.
