Zephyr Real Estate Continues Annual Food and Toy Drive

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Every year Zephyr Real Estate collects food and toys for both San Francisco and Marin County. This year, the tradition of “It’s better to give than receive” continues at all Zephyr locations. The barrels are in place and ready to be filled.
Food donations will again go to the San Francisco and Marin County Food Banks. The SF-Marin Food Bank assesses the growing hunger problem by calculating the number of “missing meals” in the Bay Area at 47 million. The missing meals total is defined as the gap between the number of meals needed by those who do not have enough, and the number of meals that are provided. According to the Food Bank’s website, San Francisco is missing 36 million meals per year, while Marin is missing 11 million. There is clearly still much work to be done to end hunger here.
Non-perishable food items are needed, primarily soup, chili, beans, canned vegetables, tuna, canned meat, cereal, peanut butter and granola bars (no glass containers, please). Additionally, the Food Bank’s buying power can distribute approximately $6 worth of food for every $1 donation, so cash donations and gift cards are also gratefully accepted.
Toys donated in San Francisco will go to the San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program. Toys donated in Marin will go to the Salvation Army Toy Program. Both noteworthy organizations have a long history of collecting and distributing thousands of toys to hopeful children throughout the community. Recommended donations are sports equipment, arts and crafts, baby items (blankets, bottles, rattles), dolls of all nationalities, stuffed animals, iPods, game systems with games, books and toy trucks.
