1477332029DENVER, CO – Jamie and Brian Harris, leading Broker Associates and a husband and wife team with Kentwood City Properties, are supporting the Second Annual “Monster Mile” Charity Run to fight hunger through the SAME Café, a nonprofit restaurant that strives to eliminate the ever-growing issue of hunger in the metro Denver area.  The Monster Mile is scheduled for Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Cheesman Park Pavilion from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

“This is a great event for a very worthy cause,” said Brian Harris.  “Last year a total of 80 runners showed up at the Stanley Aviation campus and helped celebrate the SAME Café’s ninth anniversary and helped raise over $5,500 to help purchase meals for those in need.  Between the super-fast winning times and the incredible costumes, it made for a successful inaugural event.  It is anticipated that approximately 200 runners and spectators will attend this second annual event.  Participation is limited to 300 individuals.  Coffee, hot chocolate, pancakes, monster cookies and more will be available for participants after the run.  Please come and join us for this special event, and dress up in your finest Halloween outfit for a fun mile run.”

SAME Café has been focused on providing healthy meals made from local and organic ingredients for all Denver residents since 2006, regardless of their ability to pay.  Since its inception, SAME Café has served over 125,000 meals.  It is a unique opportunity for those with means as well as those in need to dine side by side on meals made with local and healthy ingredients.  Customers are encouraged to donate either an amount that is fair to their budget or 30 minutes of volunteer time in the café in exchange for a meal.  Those who wish to pay forward have the opportunity to leave a little extra to help the next person in line who may be a little short on both time and funds.

The Monster Mile includes great prizes for individual and group costumes and pets are welcome to participate in the fun run.  The event will take place on a unique and fast one mile course and is professionally measured, marked and timed.  Participants are encouraged to bring five organic items and an extra Halloween treat.  The cost is $25 for a competitive runner, $20 per fun runner, and children under five years old can run for free.  Official Monster Mile T-shirts are available for $15.  For more information, please visit www.soallmayeat.org/monster-mile.
