The Mill Valley Major League Consolation Championship Tournament will culminate on Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m., with the Championship Game at Boyle Park on Buena Vista Field in Mill Valley.
This noteworthy event, sponsored by Zephyr Real Estate, is the result of 10 Major League teams in Mill Valley who have been striving toward this showdown for the past four months. The season began in early March, and after 18 regular-season games, the teams are now closing in on the single-elimination playoff tournament title and the coveted Zephyr Classic Trophy.
The Mill Valley Little League was established in 1954 with only two teams in play, so teams from Sausalito and Tiburon were added. Today, over 850 players comprise the 70 teams, and a multitude of volunteers participate to ensure the success of the League. The games draw crowds of families, friends and neighbors to support the players and to strengthen the community spirit and pride.
Rick Stern, from Zephyr’s Marin office, has served as Commissioner on the Board for MVLL for the last nine years and has joyfully coached MV Little League teams for 22 years.
