.POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J. – (Nov. 30, 2007) –
Small acts of kindness can make a huge impression on a child’s life, especially when it occurs during Christmas time. That is why Diane Turton, Realtors
’ 500 sales associates in 22 offices are asking their families, friends and neighbors to support the annual “Turton Giving Tree” project that was started three years ago. The project, which this year will run through Dec. 10, is focused on collecting and giving gifts to children in need throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey. To help distribute the gifts in time for Christmas Day, Diane Turton, Realtors is partnering with Family and Children’s Service of Monmouth County and the Salvation Army Citadel of Ocean County Citadel.“The need to collect these presents is so great because these children’s families only can afford the necessities of life,” said Mrs. Turton, owner and broker of record of Diane Turton, Realtors. “We share a collective joy seeing the gifts under our office trees and bringing the spirit of the holidays to many children.”According to Mrs. Turton, anyone can get involved. “Turton Giving Trees” are decorated with home-shaped ornaments and each has a child’s gift wish on it. Trees are displayed in each of the firm’s 22 sales offices and the corporate centre. Friends, neighbors and anyone in the local community can come to one of the offices and choose one or more ornaments. After selecting an ornament or two, grant a wish by providing unwrapped gifts, and then affix the ornament that matches the gift.“For 98 years, Family and Children’s Service has been reaching out and assisting families during the holidays and throughout the year, said Linda Steel, the organization’s director of development. “Our view is that anything you can do for these children will make a difference in their lives.”Gift giving covers a wide variety of children who range in age from newborns to teens. Many families request such basic items as hats, gloves, sweaters or sweatshirts, pajamas, underwear and warm socks. In past years, many toys have also been contributed and the list includes board games and books, electronic games and DVD players, dolls, trucks, sports gear and more. For older children, gift cards are a good choice.Captain Lorie Travaglino, corps officer of the Salvation Army Citadel of Ocean County, added, “Last year, the generous people at Diane Turton, Realtors gave us over 1,000 toys, the single largest contribution to our children. We are extremely grateful that Diane reaches out and partners with us to bring holiday cheer to thousands of children in our communities.”To find the location of the nearest Diane Turton, Realtors’ sales office, visit their Web site www.dianeturton.com
