ERA Throws a Pitch for Muscular Dystrophy Association

Each year, ERA runs special "Day in May" fundraising events throughout the nation for Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Our corporate office staff is participating in this effort by running a "Softball Game for MDA".  Our objective is to send as many children with neuromuscular diseases to one week of Summer Camp this year.

These summer camps are really special for both the kids and their families. For one week, children with any one of the 43 neuromuscular diseases, ages 6-21, have the opportunity to swim, ride horses, play and be on their own (with the help of a special one-on-one volunteer!).  I have spoken to so many of the children who have had the opportunity to go to these camps. What is so amazing is that, time and time again, they have expressed their joy to me...that "for one week, I could be 'normal'!!"

But the other beneficiaries of the summer camp program are the parents.Imagine, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, throughout the child's life, these parents help their children on and off with braces, in and out of wheelchairs, dressing and undressing, eating, using the bathroom...many even set their alarm clocks for every two hours during the night so they can turn their child with breathing difficulties!  For one week, these unsung heroes can get a full night's rest and lead a "normal life" without any guilt...they know their child is having the time of their life!

I guess you can see, as a National Vice President for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, I am passionate about helping these wonderful people!  It costs MDA $600 to send one child to camp...but MDA is committed to send every child who wants to attend without charge.

Even the smallest donation can make a difference...and it is tax deductible!

Please make your check out directly to MDA and send to:
