NEW YORK CITY, NY - The New York Times featured Joanne Kaufman's story about older buildings rethinking and renovating to offer new amenities to their residents and to attract prospective buyers. Congratulations to Agent Julie Perlin, who took part in the story and provided some great insight based on first-hand experience.
As a resident of the Carlton Regency, Julie had advised her own co-op board of the benefits installing new amenities could bring. After raising the necessary funds, the renovation project in her building was completed last summer including sought-after amenities such as a gym and roof deck.
"Before, apartments in the building were selling for $800 a square foot. Now, it’s about $1,200 a square foot. Part of that is the rising market. But the amenities are playing a major role in getting people to come and look at the building.”
