DENVER, CO - On December 16, 2015, brokers and staff of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty (LIV SIR) completed the 5th annual Christmas Family Adoption Program, supporting Denver-based charity, Heart and Hand, by collecting gifts for families in need.
“Emily Henderson and LIV Sotheby’s International Realty’s support has made it possible for the Heart & Hand Center to ensure that all of its children, and their entire families, are able to celebrate this holiday season,” said Blaine Heydt, CEO, Heart & Hand Center for Youth and Their Families. “We would not be able to provide this service without Emily’s coordination and the generous contributions of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty’s employees.”
The Christmas Family Adoption Program involves ‘adopting’ an entire family around the holiday season by providing the family wrapped gifts and a gift certificate to a grocery store to purchase a holiday meal.
LIV Sotheby’s International Realty has supported The Christmas Family Adoption Program for the past five years, with broker Emily Henderson, championing the collection. The brokerage and staff have successfully ‘fostered’ dozens of families, supporting the Heart and Hand organization’s efforts.
Heart and Hand is a non-profit that provides tutoring, sports programs, art therapy, emotional support, meals, summer camp programs, and necessities including clothes, warm coats, boots, gloves, and hats to the children in the program.
The organization supports adults by assisting parents and guardians in locating emergency housing, pay utility bills when unable to do so, and by offering career workshops and computers for parents to use for employment.
“Our Heart & Hand Center families have expressed gratitude and awe for the work Emily and LIV Sotheby’s International Realty do,” said Heydt. “They have told us that often these gifts are the only ones under their tree. They have cried and hugged us, thanking us for relieving the stress of the holiday season. We can’t thank Emily and LIV Sotheby’s International Realty enough for all of their support!”
To make Heart and Hand a success, work begins in October. Volunteers begin the search for people to ‘adopt’ families for the holiday season, and then pair those volunteers with a Heart and Hand family in need.
