In October of 2011, Marie was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a traumatic and difficult time especially during the chemo therapy phase. However like millions of other women, she was fortunate to have early detection and now is approaching the 4th year of her 5 year remission period. In 2014 she walked in the Susan Komen 3 day- 60 mile walk. It was an amazing experience spending 3 days with so many women who have suffered from the same disease or know someone else who did.
