Women Build History in the GTA

While women have always been a part of the action, in 2009, something special happened. On their own initiative, an incredible group of women, some of whom had never swung a hammer, got together and rallied over 1,500 others, to fundraise and build 16 homes in Scarborough. A stunning success, the initiative spawned the second Women Build in 2011. This time, the all-female team of 1,000 built a 29-home development. Once again, in 2012 and 2013 hundreds of Women Build supporters enabled us to build six homes. Last year, close to 1,000 women helped us kick-start an additional 33 homes in Toronto and Brampton.

Women Build 2015 in the GTA

In 2015, we’re once again reminding folks across the Greater Toronto Area that every woman has the power to change lives for the better. For 17 days in September/October we will welcome approximately 1,000 women to fundraise, learn new skills, build more homes, and change more lives forever. Through exclusive women-only build days, you’ll have the gratifying experience of getting out on a job site and to help with a variety of construction duties which may include such things as framing, hanging drywall, painting and/or landscaping. Everyone who comes out to a Habitat build site comes away having learned new skills and feeling proud of their accomplishments.
