DENVER, CO – Kentwood Real Estate is partnering with Amazing Moves Moving & Storage and Move for Hunger to collect food donations for the Food Bank of the Rockies. Food boxes have been delivered to Kentwood Real Estate DTC, Kentwood Real Estate Cherry Creek, and Kentwood City Properties in downtown Denver. Supporters can deliver non-perishable canned and dry goods to any of the three Kentwood locations through Monday, November 16th.
“Nearly one in seven Coloradans struggled with hunger that past two years, facing times when there was not enough money to buy food for their families or themselves, and nearly one in five Colorado kids may not know when or where they will get their next meal,” said Peter Niederman, Chief Executive Officer of Kentwood Real Estate. “We encourage everyone to support Food Bank of the Rockies by providing wholesome, nutritious food donations for needy families during the holiday season. Let’s all come together and help our neighbors struggling to feed their families.”
According to government statistics, Colorado has the third-fastest growing rate of child poverty in the nation, with more kids living in poverty during 2012 than the worst of the Great Recession. In addition, more than one in eight Coloradans lived in poverty, including one in six kids, during 2013.
Suggested food donations include tuna, ham, beef stew, chili, baked beans, fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, soup, and pasta. Non-glass containers are preferred. Baby food in glass jars cannot be distributed and must be disposed of. The Food Bank cannot accept items that are perishable, home-baked or home-canned, or several months past the use-by-date, damaged or open. Non-food items such as pet food and diapers are acceptable.
