SeaKeepers mission is to increase current knowledge about the oceans, promote and facilitate scientific discovery and raise awareness about critical ocean issues by working directly with the yachting community as an essential component and contributor to ocean research, education and conservation efforts. In its pursuit to fulfill its mission, SeaKeepers engage and work in partnership with opinion leaders, scientists, businessmen, government agencies, educational institutions, both private and public organizations, as well as environmental advocates.

A critical component of SeaKeepers strategy is the DISCOVERY Yachts Program which consist of scientific expeditions, instrument deployments and educational outreach. In this regard, SeaKeepers work closely with the boating and yachting community to take advantage of their unique potential to further marine research and to raise awareness of the marine conservation.

This year, Florida Luxurious Properties is a proud sponsor of the International SeaKeepers Society’s Bal De La Mer & Founders’ Dinner which will present the 2015 SeaKeepers Award this Thursday, November 5th 2015, at a private location. This exclusive annual event, presents the prestigious SeaKeepers Award to honor and promote the work and accomplishments of committed key decision makers and influencers who have positively furthered the SeaKeepers Mission.

This year’s SeaKeepers Award recipient comes from a long line of ocean explorers, who have dedicated their lives to the scientific discovery and preservation of the ocean – Fabien Cousteau! “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds on in its net of wonder forever” Jacques Yves-Cousteau; is especially true in Fabien Cousteau’s family. Fabien Cousteau is the son of Jean-Michel Cousteau, the first SeaKeepers Award recipient in 1996, and the grandson of the world renowned ocean explorer and pioneer of maritime conservation, Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Fabien Cousteau has recently staged missions off the coast of the Florida Keys and established efforts there to promote marine conservation. Previous SeaKeepers Award recipients include “Her Deepness” Dr. Sylvia Earle, the late Walter Cronkite, Ted Danson, Bernie Marcus, His Royal Highness Prince Albert II, professional surfer Kelly Slater and Wendy Benchley.
