HOUSTON, TX - Riva Nelson is on a mission. She is supporting the St. Jude Heroes to raise funds for children battling cancer and other diseases at St. Jude Children’s Hospital by participating in the 2015 New York City Marathon on November 1st. Nelson will run, walk or crawl to the finish line in loving memory of her brave and courageous son Shane. At six months of age Shane was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, called Neuroblastoma. Shane had three major surgeries, chemotherapy, painful spinal taps, MRI’s, CT scans and blood transfusions however, the cancer returned shortly after remission and very aggressive. Nelson and her family lived at Columbia Presbyterian hospital in New York City, until his passing at age two from cardiac arrest. Nelson’s goal of raising $6,000 requires requesting donations. The deadline is October 19th, 2015.
