Former Caps Defenseman Mike Green Sells McLean Home for $2.8 Million, Brokered by Jennifer Thornett and Micah Corder of Washington Fine Properties

1440104304WASHINGTON, DC - Former Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green has severed his final ties to the D.C. area. Green, who spent 10 seasons with Washington’s professional hockey team before signing an $18 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings last month, sold his McLean home for $2.8 million.

The Franklin Park house never went on the market. The private sale between Green and Arne Christiansen was brokered by Jennifer Thornett and Micah Corder of Washington Fine Properties, who represented Christiansen, and Sherif Abdalla of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, who represented Green.

When Christiansen, an avid sports fan who lives in the Franklin Park neighborhood, learned that Green was leaving the Caps, he contacted Thornett who had been the listing agent when Green purchased the home in 2012.

“When he got wind of Green’s impending departure, he sent me a text,” Thornett said. It read, “I know you sold the house to Mike Green. I want that house. Make it happen.”

Thornett, who has known Abdalla since high school, contacted him immediately, telling him she had a buyer interested in Green’s house. Both sides reached an agreement, and Christiansen bought the house.

Green and his wife, Courtney, transformed the house from a California lodge into a sleek, contemporary home with an elevator, wine room, home theater and a four-car garage. The one-acre wooded property includes an in-ground pool.
