BLUFFTON, S.C. – (Sept. 5, 2007) – The Cora Bett Thomas Realty – SC Community Fund has made its first official community donation, a $3,000 gift to the Bluffton High School Booster Club, to help support the school’s athletic programs.   All 18 real-estate professionals in the Bluffton office of Cora Bett Thomas Realty & Associates launched the fund in April and built its assets by contributing a portion of their commissions from real-estate sales. The firm’s goal is to offer financial support to deserving organizations and special projects in the Lowcountry.   An exclusive affiliate of Christie’s Great Estates, Cora Bett Thomas Realty is considered by many to be the region’s pre-eminent luxury real-estate marketer.   “This donation to the Booster Club at Bluffton High School affords us the opportunity to make a real difference with our charitable fund,” said Cora Bett Thomas, founder and CEO of the firm. “It is the first of what will be many contributions to worthy causes in the Bluffton and Hilton Head area. The fund serves to underscore our commitment to the Lowcountry community.”   Cora Bett Thomas Realty earned a singular distinction when it became the first local real-estate firm to establish its own charitable fund, leading the way in service and dedication to southern Beaufort County. Assets of the Cora Bett Thomas Realty – SC Community Fund are managed by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, Inc., on Hilton Head Island. The nonprofit Community Foundation of the Lowcountry invests the funds for growth and income, and frees Cora Bett Thomas Realty to decide how best to use the generated income to make strategic grants that will strengthen the community.   “We have been searching for a worthy cause to support ever since we organized the fund in the spring,” said sales associate Tim Peirce, a member of the fund’s board of directors. “We focused our search primarily in the Bluffton area because that’s where we’re located and that’s where we’ve been so warmly welcomed by the community.”   Every real-estate sales professional in the Bluffton office of Cora Bett Thomas Realty donates a portion of his or her sales commission to the fund. When the foundation’s three-member board of directors selects a worthy cause to support, the foundation membership votes on the selection. The firm then authorizes the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry to release the funds.   Members of the public may support the Cora Bett Thomas Realty – SC Community Fund by contacting the Bluffton office at 843.757.6002.   “We’re very excited about this first donation,” Peirce says. “We believe this is a great way to give back to the community.”   About Cora Bett Thomas Realty & Associates With listings for the area’s finest residential and commercial properties, Cora Bett Thomas Realty & Associates is an exclusive affiliate of Christie’s Great Estates and a longtime member of Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate, The Board of Regents, Leading Estates of the World, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (formerly RELO) and Luxury Portfolio.
