1433871861DENVER, CO - On Tuesday, June 2, 2015, over sixteen brokers and support staff from LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, teamed up with Extreme Community Makeover (ECM) volunteers to landscape one of the brokerages’ largest hands on landscaping projects in company history.

“I am overwhelmed by the number of our brokers and staff who would take the time out of their busy schedules to work this event,” said LIV SIR managing broker, Shannel Ryan. “In a market where hustle is everything, it shows the true integrity of our brokers; they want to give back to the community.”

At 9:00am Tuesday morning, volunteers gathered at the Set Free Church on Perry Street in Denver before heading to 2 South Newton Street where a residence sat in dire need of a makeover. The residence owner, an elderly, retired local teacher was amazed at the work efforts of volunteers.

In the back yard, a three-tier retaining wall was completely reconstructed, in addition to landscaping including a deep weeding, garden tilling, mowing, and more. Out front, volunteers completely unearthed the entire west-facing portion of the yard, resurfacing it and laying over 300lbs of mulch. To organize the massive effort, ECM volunteers brought in trucks to haul debris, and LIV SIR broker Nate Postlethwait, organized staffing efforts.

Postlethwait is the primary sponsor of Extreme Community Makeover, and has served as the organizations primary sponsor of ECM’s annual fundraiser in years past. In November, 2014, Postlethwait sponsored Art is in the Air, ECM’s largest fundraising event, held at the Artwork Network gallery in the Santa Fe Arts district.

“I’ve always been moved by the amount of hard work that goes into every Extreme Community Makeover event,” said Postlethwait. “A sense of community is meaningful when trying to raise awareness for those in need, and I want to continue to support ECM’s efforts.”

Extreme Community Makeover is a non-profit that targets specific neighborhoods that need repair or a makeover. “The reality is, there are several blocks in our city that have homeowners that are not physically or financially capable of the upkeep on their homes,” said Postlethwait. ECM finds these people, puts a team together, and in a day, transforms their home free of charge.”

A valued broker at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, Postlethwait is no stranger to community involvement. For every transaction Postlethwait closes, he dedicates a minimum of $500 to one of three Denver-based charities in his clients’ name. “I feel like community involvement is just as important as my job. LIV SIR has incredible strength in its name, and people are encouraged to know that with that force come people who want to make a difference in their community,” said Postlethwait.

LIV SIR volunteers included, Anthony Hollingsworth, Michael Berman, Scott Harris, Tara Harris, Sarabeth Jones, Jeff Lee, Terry Oakes, Ethan Bullock, Beth Sand, Katie Williams, Michelle Seward, Genny Jackson, Tre Behr, Leslie Britton, and Susan Matthews.
