1432747396SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Erinn Millar, recently named Sales Manager at Zephyr Real Estate’s new Marin office, is an active member of Home for a Home. Home for a Home is a nonprofit organization that works with REALTORS® who donate a portion of their commission to fund the construction of a home for a family in need. Millar has been participating for about a year, and her first Home for a Home is now funded and complete.

Millar received notification from Chris King, Home for a Home’s Director, that the Hernandez family in Guatemala now has a new home. The family of four includes two young daughters, ages 2 and 7. The houses are simple, yet solid and provide a huge improvement from the previous conditions for the recipients. Home for a Home is currently building houses in the poorest areas of highland Guatemala.

1432747436The stucco structures are 13 x 19 feet, made of reinforced concrete block, and painted inside and out with colors chosen by the homeowner. The company’s stated mission is the belief that a safe, solid home can be the catalyst to dramatic and positive change in people’s lives.

Home for a Home was founded by Nick Cooper who, as a student, visited Mexico every spring break with a group of fellow students to help build houses for those in need. The experience left a lasting impression. After college, Cooper began a successful career in real estate, but the thoughts of his work experience in Mexico stayed with him. With co-founders, Chris Cheng and Joey Schultz, the concept of using revenue from real estate transactions to sustainably support home construction for those in need was created. The Hernandez family

Millar brings an invaluable dedication and commitment to all she endeavors, whether it’s cycling across Ireland to raise money for its first children’s Hospice, financing the construction of safe housing in Guatemala, or creating a gratifying experience for buyers and sellers of real estate. Her powerful work ethic gets the job done.

Millar is an avid world traveller, having recently married in a small fishing village in Spain, and counts herself as a global resident, fortunate to call Marin her home.

"Erinn's charitable efforts are one of the big factors that convinced us she was a fit for Zephyr,” commented Randall Kostick, President of Zephyr. “Her commitment to helping others is what we see as one of the ideals as a company and as part of the community."
