HOUSTON, TX - John Daugherty, Realtors team, Houston "SOLD" on the Cure CRUSHED the Avon 39 mile walk on April 25-26. The team raised $10,000 of the $2.7 Million total for the battle against breast cancer.
The 26 mile walk started in Stude Park early on that Saturday morning in torrential rain storm. The trail which lead them all throughout Houston came to end day one at Rice University. Day two with 13.3 MILES to go, began at Rice University. The walk continued through downtown then to Buffalo Bayou Park coming to a conclusion at Stude Park. The team was comprised of real estate professionals including Katie Charlton, Debbie Pearce and Samantha Ortiz of John Daugherty, Realtors, along with Samantha's husband Raul.
In addition to more than 1,500 walkers, there were volunteers providing safety, water, snacks, as well as well-wishers at designated cheering stations. The team was elated to help raise money as well as awareness for the foundation and hoping to have a stronger team next year.
Net funds raised from Avon 39 Challenge Houston go directly to benefit the Houston area. 2015 Beneficiaries include Baylor College of Medicine, The Methodist Hospital Foundation, The Rose, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation.
