1426626899WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV - For the second consecutive year, The Greenbrier Sporting Club hosted veterans from all over West Virginia at its Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) event. The national program was started in 2005 by retired Navy Captain Ed Nicholson, and has been helping veterans in need by teaching them fly-fishing skills including tying flies and building rods in addition to fishing. Jacob Ott, Director of Outdoor Pursuits at The Greenbrier Sporting Club, welcomed back the PHWFF team who were once again thrilled with the opportunity to fish in Howard's Creek at The Greenbrier, which is world-renowned for its trout fishing.

"Along with its gracious charm and amenities, the participants of PHWFF were delighted with the outstanding professionalism from The Greenbrier Sporting Club's Director of Outdoor Pursuits, Mr. Jacob Ott, and his guides. Although Howard's Creek was high on our first day, we were able to get in some fly-casting instructions as well as fly tying lessons. The second day provided clear skies and a lower water level, allowing the veterans to land Rainbow and Brown Trout, creating a very enjoyable, memorable experience. It's organizations such as The Greenbrier Sporting Club and Mr. Ott who open up their hearts to help disabled veterans, giving them back the self-confidence needed," commented Paul Moore, WV Regional Coordinator for PHWFF.

"It was great having Project Healing Waters back at The Greenbrier Sporting Club. We had some tough conditions to fish in this year and the guys really stuck with it and caught some great fish. It's great to work with a group that does so much good for our veterans," said Jacob Ott.

The Greenbrier Sporting Club looks forward to welcoming back Project Healing Waters in 2016, and years to come.
