1415137520GRINDELWALD, SWITZERLAND - Studio Piet Boon from Oostzaan, Netherlands proudly presents its collaboration with Swiss architect and engineering company Griwaplan. The multidisciplinary studio has been commissioned to design interior concepts for two unique and luxurious chalets in Swiss mountain village Grindelwald carrying the name Church Hill Chalets and launching an exclusive and sophisticated interpretation of traditional Alpine lifestyle.

The extraordinary project stems from the friendship between Piet Boon and Markus Friedli, project developer at Berner Oberland based Griwaplan and is situated just outside the centre of glacier village Grindelwald in the Jungfrau region. From there, the view of the impressive Untere Grindelwaldgletscher is simply stunning and accessibility is great due to its convenient location. Boon and his team designed the interior concepts in two of their signature styles, Original and Contemporary. Embracing Griwaplan’s extensive chalet construction experience and applying their bespoke design philosophy, the studio successfully created an outstanding interpretation of comfortable luxury - alpine style whilst effortlessly blending with the Grindelwald couleur locale.

Piet Boon: “Ever since my first skiing experience at the age of six, the sport has had a special place in my heart. It’s so much fun to be able to create our own vision of a classic like the chalet. Our designs mainly focus on a logical and rewarding layout and create a luxurious and warm look and feel whilst respecting traditions. Each chalet has ski-in and ski-out access. The Griwaplan chalets are a dream come true for those who have refined design taste and love winter sports.”

The original interior concept was designed with the original chalet construction in mind having wood as its key basic ingredient. This forms the base for a more traditional interior with modern accents. With the Contemporary design robust materials like concrete and natural stone make up the interior’s character. The typical Piet Boon style is conveyed through a perfect balance between a uniquely warm experience, clear sightlines and symmetry, a subdued colour palette, the use of natural materials and highly qualitative and extraordinary detail. Future chalet owners can further customize their interiors together with the Studio Piet Boon designers, fully catering it to their own wishes.

Markus Friedli: “Pictures say more than a thousand words, is a suitable proverb for Grindelwald and the Jungfrau region. The charismatic mountain village blends local traditions, the legacy of the mountain scenery and Alpine lifestyle with the modern and international world in its own inimitable way. Grindelwald is known for its chalet style village character and breathes both a heart-felt holiday feeling as well as a rewarding sense of belonging. Together with Studio Piet Boon we have proudly elevated the traditional, highly qualitative Grindelwalder chalet construction style to the next level.”
