1413838687DENVER, CO – Two caring real estate professionals with Kentwood Real Estate are giving back to the communities that have fueled their success by serving as board members for two exceptional local charitable organizations.

Bob Serotta, a Broker Associate with Kentwood Real Estate – DTC, is currently serving as Chair of the board of directors of Project PAVE, and Carrie Wernecke, a Broker Associate with Kentwood City Properties, is Board Chair of SafeHouse Denver. Both charities have contributed significantly to the wellbeing of families and individuals who are victims of domestic violence.

Founded in 1986, Project PAVE’s mission is to empower youth to end the cycle of relationship violence. The organization’s approach to ending this cycle is through therapy and family support services for young people witnessing or experiencing domestic violence and violence prevention education programming for middle and high school students in the metro Denver area. Project PAVE annually reaches more than 3,100 children, teens, parents, teachers and other professionals with its therapy and violence prevention programs.

Established in 1977, SafeHouse Denver operates the only shelter in the City and County of Denver that exclusively serves victims of domestic violence. SafeHouse also runs a non-residential Counseling and Advocacy Center where it provides all of its support services to adults, children and youth experiencing intimate partner violence who do not need emergency housing.

“All Project PAVE services are youth-focused and offered for free to the community, so support from caring people is critical,” said Serotta. “By locating counseling and prevention education services in schools, Project PAVE is able to reduce barriers to service, increase integration of programs, and increase collective impact in schools and communities. Please visit www.projectpave.org for more information, and thanks very much for your support.”

“SafeHouse does much more than keep victims safe,” said Wernecke. “SafeHouse services include individual counseling, advocacy support groups, legal assistance and referrals to other services. SafeHouse Denver’s shelter has 26 beds plus cribs and serves more than 250 women and children in a typical year. The shelter is funded partially through corporations, foundations, the government, and Mile High United Way, but support from individuals is paramount to the shelter’s operation. For more information, please visit www.safehouse-denver.org.”

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and SafeHouse Denver is hosting its signature fundraiser, the Hope Gala, on October 18th at The Ritz-Carlton,Denver. The event includes live and silent auctions in addition to live entertainment. Tickets are $175.

Bob Serotta may be reached at 303-587-4700, and Carrie Wernecke at 303-885-9671. As the holiday season approaches, now is a great time to contribute to and get involved with these exceptional charities.
