DENVER, CO – Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty broker Eric Breslin volunteered at Project Homeless Connect 13 last month, serving over 1,400 attendees. Held at the Colorado Convention Center on Tuesday September 17th, guests were served by over 1,000 volunteers and 450 social service providers, making this year’s event a huge success.
“I have volunteered at this event for the past four years and it is amazing the amount of people in dire straits who come down to the Denver Convention Center to get help,” says Breslin. “Denver happens to be a community that cares and has a lot of resources available. People don’t always know how to tap into those resources. At this convention, there are a lot of vendors and volunteers that make this happen. If one were homeless, this would be the event of the year to attend. ”
The event allows at-risk families or anyone that is homeless or in need, to get help with housing, health care, legal aid, jobs, food, clothing, etc. According to Project Homeless, two out of three of the homeless in Denver are families with children, 42 percent are women, and nearly half of the homeless have jobs, just not a home.
“We’ve made tremendous forward progress and have an opportunity to make the goal of ending homelessness a reality with programs like this one,” said Breslin.
