Alain Pinel Realtors (APR) was ranked the fifth largest residential real estate firm in the United States for a second consecutive year based on its sales volume in 2012, according to a recent research report produced by REAL Trends. APR is the only brokerage in the top five nationally ranked firms that operates solely in one state.
Despite constrained inventory, APR had a record year in 2012 with a closed sales volume of $8.8 billion, a 23% increase over their sales in 2011. The numbers confirm APR as the largest privately-owned and independent residential real estate company in California.

According to the REAL Trends report, the top 500 brokers represent close to 29.8 percent of all new and resale transactions in 2012. “The recovery in housing sales was reflected in the results from the REAL Trends 500,” says REAL Trends editor Steve Murray. The REAL Trends 500 impressive sales come despite making up less than .6% of the real estate brokerages in the nation.
The rankings come just weeks after Alain Pinel Realtors was named the number one real estate brokerage in Silicon Valley based on productivity per office ($687 million) and average sales price ($1.2 million) by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, based on sales within Silicon Valley alone. Based on overall closed sales volume, APR was named the second largest broker in the Bay Area by both the San Francisco Business Journal and Silicon Valley Business Journal. Earlier this year, the Silicon Valley Business Journal named APR as the 4th largest family-owned company in all of Silicon Valley and the only real estate company in the top five.
