Hamptons Top 10 Most Expensive Sales of 2012

Favorite

13588945362012 was a good year for high-end home sales, but frankly nowhere near the top. 2007 was the height of the high-end trades starting with Ron Barron’s ceiling-shattering purchase of the deMenil Carpenter 40 acres oceanfront in East Hampton for a record total of $103M. This was actually 2 recorded sales that held the #1 and #2 positions at $58M for 260 Further Lane and $45M for 278 Further Lane. In fact, back in 2007 the top 7 most expensive sales were all over $30M…that would make 2012’s #1 most expensive sale land in the #8 spot in 2007!

One oddity in this year’s report is that only 4 of the top 10 were oceanfront— the other 6 were inland. Ordinarily in TOWN & COUNTRY’S Top 10 Most Expensive Sales Report oceanfront and bay front make up 80%. While Southampton’s sale of 322 Meadow Lane earned the top slot at $28.5M, East Hampton dominates the chart with 6 of the top 10 positions.
